Vestimentaria (2023)

Collective exhibition made by the artists Macarena Bordali, Valentina Rosende and Manuela Pizarro. Presented as a Runway mode to later be exhibited as an installation. Each of the artists proposes between three and five outfits. This exhibition was worked on between June and November 2023, being carried out collectively in the organization and personally in the proposal of each one; holding weekly review and progress meetings, where we shared knowledge and thoughts, thus enriching each other’s works.

Personal work:

Ceramic- dress, made with raw crea, embroidered with cotton thread, ceramic applications and decorations made with hawthorn seeds and reused metals.

This clothing is linked to a representation of the territorial context – hills, rocks, textures – and to the preservation of the environment through the containment and delivery of seeds from the native forest through the small ceramic bowls hanging on the cape of the suit, with the purpose is for the public to take them and have the possibility of regenerating native forest.

This dress is accompanied by an installation composed of a tree branch and various objects found on the hill and around my workshop, such as plant fibers, metals, stones, ceramics and plastics. I call these types of installations “contexts”.

Dress collects raw materials, made with tetra pack, cardboard bags with aluminum, transparent packaging plastic, black plastic and creates raw material inside, all embroidered and joined with metallic thread manually.

It also refers to the territory, but in a more explicit way, since it vividly accuses what makes up the landscape, in this case, plastics present in our natural places, using it to make the garment and give it a new life; an activation of a proposal, to use the already existing material considered garbage, as raw material of the future. Accompanied by “Drawing painting VIII” and the “small tetra pack square”

Painted dress, made with raw fabric and a curtain interior joined with a sewing machine, painted with colored pencils, oil sticks and wet pastel pencils, later sealed with paint lacquer, as a work in the style of  Almatic paintings.

Accompanied by the poem “The Song of the Bird” and the paintings “Almática V” (2020) and “El resguardo, Encounter with Romerillos” (2023)

This work proposes and expresses in an abstract pictorial way the emotional process of creating this project.
